Love it! I always get some pretty evil tones on my lil' 10 watt MG. Haters hate... That just shows you tone is in the fingers!

Totally. Also love the comments on the Facebook about that vid. Something like: ''Please, do a demo about your fridge! (because you make everything sound so awesome!)''

:laugh2:

That dude could play through a Peavey Classic and he'd still sound like that.

Re: Those who say Marshall MG15 sucks... rise your hand

I was bumming around a local music store (Steve's if any local dudes were wondering), and I was playing my own guitar (ibanez) through I think a Jet City or a Randall...This was when i was doing research for the amp I would eventually come to buy (the Jet City JCA100H).

Some noob was there looking for a practice amp to buy (he was a beginner), and he asked me if I could play through some sh!tass little behringer 1x10" solid state combo. Not even Bugera, but Behringer.

I obliged, plugged in and ripped away. It sounded great. not awesome like a tube amp, but great nonetheless.

Noob was floored by how good it sounded.

Granted not all sh!tass practice amps are capable of doing that. I know my own Fender practice amp has all the charm and flexibility of a jar of bumblebees in a cement mixer filled with chunks of broken bricks. I never play the damn thing. Only reason I keep it is cuz of the super nice cleans.

But it just goes to show that if you have some patience, a good ear and are willing to take the time to tweak, then even sh!tass amps can give up the goods.

Yeah, Ola will always sound like Ola :D

Haha, that's a good story. If you learn how to use your gear you can sound awesome even if it's not high quality stuff. I think this a lot nowadays. It has partially killed my GAS. I'm really glad about it. Now I just wanna play and make some kickass music.

Re: Those who say Marshall MG15 sucks... rise your hand

Hehe we had a few of these in the shop, both that and its bigger brothers....would be nice litte amps for home recording and practise use!
It is not about the gear, but how you use it!

Re: Those who say Marshall MG15 sucks... rise your hand

Oh to have the ability to make all amps sound terrible regardless of price.

Re: Those who say Marshall MG15 sucks... rise your hand

can't say I've ever wanted to tune that low or dial in a sound like that, but at the very least it will be fun to watch people suddenly fall madly in love with them (and have the 10 people that dug theirs finally come out of the closet).

[sick riff and playing btw]

Sure it isn't all the SM57? :D

I say that mostly because the SM57 has been my go-to mic for live bands, band recording, and radio broadcast.

It is amazing how tone can be consistent with only a few pieces of gear staying the same. Ola can sound awesome through a small amp with his sig guitar and an SM57 in front of it. Between his playing style, the guitar, and the mic, a lot of his usual sound is still captured.

I found out how much my tone still sounds like mine when playing through my friend's Crate 120 watt Blue Voodoo head a few months ago. I have always found that amp shrill and annoying, but using my speaker cabinet and my guitar with it, it sounded a little bit more like my tone. It still didn't sound as smooth as my Triaxis, but I could tell certain parts of my sound were still present.

Man, that's sheer brutal. Zakk Wylde would be proud.

I thought that was fairly horrible. Just about everything I dislike about that style of "music", including ridiculous sounding Cookie Monster vocals. Hopefully, the amp's better than the music being played on it - probably is.

It's amazing what you can do with layered tracks and post-processing. I still think the actual solo spots of just the amp (around 1:39 for example) sound "meh".

Re: Those who say Marshall MG15 sucks... rise your hand

If my amp ever started sounding like that, I'd be thinking it's time for a new set of glass...

Cookie Monster vocals? Not quite.

These are Cookie Monster vocals:

Just because it's not your taste doesn't mean that it sucks.

Personally, I think Jimi Hendrix was overrated, and the solo on the album version of Purple Haze is a jangly mess.
