Thoughts on Danelectro Fish and Chips?

I'm really looking to get one of these to beef up my sound. I've read many good reviews on it, and with it's price, it seems almost too good to be true. Anybody have any opinions on them, how they sound, and even what settings you use? I read that they have to run on a battery even if you have the AC plugged in, which sounds really annoying.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

For the price, its great...Personally I could never see spending any more than that on an EQ pedal, seems like a waste to me (though I don't have much use for an eq pedal)...the only problem is that the dano has a really terrible bypass, so it does effect your signal when its off. But as an always on pedal, it'd be fine. If on the other hand you plan on using it as an "effect" (i.e. not always on)...i'd skip it, and go with a Boss GE-7, or MXR Eq instead...bit more expensive, but won't negatively effect your by pass signal.

I haven't noticed much "tone suck" with it off, in or out of a loop.

Mine still works well and its 2 years old now. Sliders sometimes make a little noise but it's not like one would ever be adjusting it while playing anyways.

The switch feels a little cheap. I could see someone kicking it in if they hit their pedals hard all the time.

Thanks for both responses. I'm pretty sure I'd be leaving it on 95% or all of the time, so any issues with the switch won't be much of a problem.

I really want to get this to boost my mids and balance out the treble and bass. Can't hurt to at least try it, it's so inexpensive.

Is it true though that it always needs a battery?

No it can plug in like most pedals.
