Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

Just got a Taiwan made ce-3 for $30. Just wondering what the consensus is on this guy. Haven't had much time to play with it. Heard it's supposed to not be as great as the ce-2.

Re: Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

Haven't played a CE-3 but the 2 is very good... I'm not a big chorus fan but it gets the job done very nicely. I also built a clone which is just a nice sounding...
Sorry I can'T help more for the comparison.

Re: Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

Its not as thick sounding as the ce-2, but it can be easily modified to make it sound the same. Ive got a ce-3 that i worked on while a/b ing it with a ce-2. Vasshu sent me the info on what to change to make it like the ce-2. Its a good chorus with a stereo option. I since bought a voodoo labs chorus which is a really nice chorus that is supposed to sound like a ce-1, but after working with that too, i ended up selling it and keeping the modified ce-3.

I have 2 CE2's & a clone. Hans down my favorite Chorus. It always sounds so awesome.

Re: Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

I still have my old CE-2...

Me too. Mine's from the late 70's I think. I always preferred it to the more deluxe Boss Chorus pedals like the CE-3. Just seemed to have a stronger, deeper tone.

When I put my pedal board together last week I had to decide between the TC Stereo Chorus or my CE-2. So I spent some time comparing them and went with the TC because I wanted to use it to split the signal and drive two Deluxe Reverbs in stereo.

But I have to say that the CE-2 still has something really good going for it tone wise - even after all of these years. Boss just got it right with the CE-2. It's such a classic tone.

I've read that David Gilmore still uses one too!

Re: Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

I just bought an old Taiwanese CE-2.

It's the best chorus pedal I've ever tried. It sounds subdued, thick and rich.

I absolutely love it, so far. Haven't tried the CE-3 to be honest, but the CE-2 is good.

Re: Thoughts on the Boss CE-2?

David Gilmour makes extensive use of the Roland Dimension D rack stereo chorus. Its nearest pedal equivalents were the DC-2 Dimension C, DC-3 Digital Dimension and CE-20 twin pedal Chorus Ensemble. (The latter simulates the various modes of the original.)
