Three Twangers

I always thought of Telecasters as being twangmasters of the guitar world. I was surprised at how twangy my Strat clone with Fender 57/62 pickups and my SG Special with Pearly Gates pups are. The SG especially surprised me...that Pearly bridge is a twang machine! Also, I like the notch position cluck of my Fender Nashville Telecaster better than the Strat. Unexpected but great stuff. Anybody else have stories of guitars that surprised them tone-wise?

Seth Lovers in a PRS McCarty. If Ted McCarty had designed that guitar for Gibson in the 50's, there's a good chance Seth's PAF's would have been in it, so it makes perfect sense today.

Dearmond USA pickups that came in 90's Korean Dearmonds made those guitars sound as good as any Gretsch.

The SG Classic with dual P-90's I used to have. What a killer guitar that was. Having another child with the wife not working for a bit meant putting money away so stuff had to go. That's one I miss. Those P-90's sounded so good. Anything and everything I threw at that guitar sounded great. What surprised me was how good that guitar cut through the mix. It was great. Not much twang but a lot of "dang, that sounds great." :D
