Re: TIEBREAKER!!!! G&L vs G&L
I didn't realize we were doing a G&L poll...
I could have posted these: my ASAT Deluxe in 3-color sunburst; flame maple top over mahogany; Duncan '59n and TB-4; and the excellent Leo Fender designed Dual Fulcrum Vibrato. (That's camera flash on the bottom edge of the photo.)
The mahogany back--as pretty as the front.
The birdseye maple neck looks like the "Before" photo in a ProActive infomercial!
What's really funny--I don't even LIKE telecasters, which is why I spend most of my time playing these:
That's my ash-bodied Tobacco Sunburst Comanche on the left, with a Gun-Oil Tinted neck and a cream guard. The MFD Z-Coil pickups were designed by Leo Fender; amazing pickups. The 3-color sunburst S-500 on the right was my first G&L, bought back about '92. The original owner put a JB, Jr. in it. The single coil MFDs (from St. Leo again) are smoking hot. This one also has a swamp-ash body.]
My usual caption for this picture goes, "Two blondes and a redhead walk into a bar, and..."
The Transparent Blonde on the left is an ash-bodied Legacy. All of the hardware, except the bridge assembly, is gold, giving this "Mary Kaye" wannabe a silver-and-gold "Rolex" look. Pickups are Texas Hot Antiquitys, with the RW/RP middle and the Power Bridge.
That's "Marilyn Monroe" in the middle. She's an ash-bodied Legacy Special model in Transparent Butterscotch Blonde. She has heavy birdseye figuring and the Gun-Oil-Tint on the maple neck--and a smooth-as-silk EBONY fingerboard. Schaller locking tuners and a graphite nut help keep her in tune. The pickups are Dual Blade humbucking pickups from Gotoh--giving this baby a hot, thick, throaty tone.
And the Redhead? Meet "Jo-Jo", an alder-bodied Legacy. The Fullerton Red body sets off the cream plastic, and the maple neck has the GOT finish. The pickups are G&L's CLF-100 vintage alnico single coils. All of these guitars have the DF Vibrato; and Leo's Passive Treble and Bass (PTB) tone controls that give you GLOBAL control of your bass and treble tone. This one is a floozy that really looks hot, and she loves the attention and the spotlight. I always get a lot of compliments on this guitar.
So, I'm really sorry I didn't get a chance to enter the G&L poll. I have 16 of these guitars, and I love them all. A Legacy is my Number ONE guitar, and I have nine of them; plus two each of the Comanche, S-500 and Legacy Special models--and the ASAT Deluxe, of course.
And when I want something a little different, I pull one out of these:
Yep, missed the Les Paul poll, too. Here are four of the my ten Gibson LPs. From left, a 2005 1958 R8 Historic Reissue in Gloss Washed Cherry; a 1996 1960 Classic Plus in HCSB with 50th Anniversary AS Seth Lovers; a 2006 Supreme in HCSB; and a 2007 Classic Antique from the Guitar Of The Week series with graphics by artist Tom Morgan.
Sorry, I missed the polls!
