Re: Tight pickup + tight amp?
The jazz is pretty tight I think, but I'm not the fan of ultra tight pickups, and I eventually dumped them. IMO the output thing is darn near a non-issue if you are using an amp with a hefty gain structure, or have pedals.
Tonight I installed my first ever Dimarzio a 1979 X2N. I'm not a Dmz fan due to their business practices, but it was a steal and I was looking for an old pup from the 70s so it was good across the board.
Thus far I've been very impressed, but I don't know if I'd call it tight really just hot and aggressive but in a way very different from SDs.
As for their construction many guys feel their wires these days are too small and I can agree with that, but I don't think SDs are really bigger. I think the bobbins are thinner on newer ones.

Part of me wants to like the Invader, but I haven't heard a good tone with it yet. And it does seem to lack definition given the sounds I've heard from it. I'm still a novice though, so what do I know at this point?
The Jazz is an intriguing thought.... I wish it were a bit higher output though
Dmarzio's I've heard good things about, but they kind of look cheap. Are they or is that just me being really picky? Thanks for all of your thoughts and suggestions, I really appreciate them!
