Hey everyone this is my first post here. I'm glad to know there is a forum just for pickups........anyway, I bought an ever so slightly used Schecter Gryphon a few days back and I am noticing that the bridge pickup tilts forward (toward the neck) and I cant seem to figure out how to make it level :banghead: My bridge pickup is perfectly level with the strings so its just the bridge pickup. Your help is much appreciated.

:thanks:

sounds like there might be a conductor from one of the pickups pushing against the leg of the pickup to make it tilt, i had a similar problem with my ibanez, easy fix just take out the pickup and adjust the wires so it dont do it anymore

Re: Tilted pickups on my Schecter

That kind of problem usually has to do with the pickup mounting screws and the springs. For instance if the screw has been inserted at an odd angle it will tilt the pickup or if the spring isn't long enough or strong enough it tilts the pickup. Also wire in the pickup cavity might be tilting be pickup.

Disassemble the mounting and then put it back together making sure no wires are tilting the pickup, the screws aren't at an odd angle and the springs aren't crooked.

If it remains a problem you can attach a small piece of light foam on the bottom of the pickup cavity or pickup to level it out.

Re: Tilted pickups on my Schecter

It's one of two things:

1) the springs not being level on one or both ends (you can't just clip them)

or

2) too much pull on the pickup wires or the pickup wire stuffed into the cavity, applying pressure

Schecter fan here. Welcome to the forum.

EVeryone is right on I think. Probably the wire underneath the pickup.

Any idea how something like that could happen? I know the person I bought the guitar from and he NEVER played it (long story) and he never had it worked on.

QC? its not really a big deal, so i could see how it would have gotten through from the factory.

Re: Tilted pickups on my Schecter

I did that on purpose with one of my P-Rails to raise the rail closer to the strings, thereby increasing it's output without affecting the other coil. Unorthodox I know, but it worked.
