Time For A "POST A PIC OF YOUR LES PAUL" Thread

Re: Time For A "POST A PIC OF YOUR LES PAUL" Thread

My Dream Guitar and #1. 1987 Les Paul Custom Lite. Wine Red. Still the only Wine Red one I've ever seen.

Currently has the stock 1959 High Output pickups. The small toggle splits the pickups.

Want to give it a Gold Covered '59n/C5b combo.

Re: Time For A "POST A PIC OF YOUR LES PAUL" Thread

Lots of beautiful Gibbys....here's one that's not so beautiful. 1980 LP Firebrand. She's been used but never abused.

Original pups destroyed while trying to wax pot them. They would squeal something awful under high gain/volume conditions. I put D word pups as replacements...a tone zone in the neck and an evolution in the bridge. The only thing original as far as wiring is some wire, the output jack and the tone pots. Bridge taken from an old RD Artist.

The neck broke many years ago at the volute but was repaired well.

The original frets are gone. The frets that are there now have undergone one redress. So that should give you a good idea of the mileage I put one this guitar over a 12 year period when it was my only electric.

The neck pup alone delivers such a round and warm sound with extra butter. Think Sweet Child 'O Mine Intro but even smoother. I keep it easily 1/4" lower than what most would consider normal but I think it's where the pup works best.

The bridge setting has that natural "Karang" reminiscent of early AC/DC

She's in store for a knob change and possibly a different capacitor on the tone knob for the JB. I have a 59 laying around but I don't have the heart to change out the Jazz.
