My wife's CE-22:

Beautiful. I like the Blue but prefer it like yours with the natural wood back. Really nice!

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

This is the only pic I have of mine and it's not a very good 1 I'm afraid:

It's my 1997 Vintage Yellow (in person it's more Orange or Amber than Yellow) Custom 22 Trem.

When I got it the electronics had already been changed to the 3way switch and push/pull tone control but the wiring was totally screwed. It all got stripped out, redone and I put a set of Bareknuckle Abraxas AIV pickups in it and used the push/pull pot to split the neck pickup.

Really pretty. Is that Amber or Orange? Mine is Orange - says so under the bridge pickup although I'm calling it Gretsch Orange now - sounds better. :) But after 18 years it's faded to more of an Amber - which I prefer.

Lefty 1999 McCarty, stock.

That's my favorite Burst color. Reminds me the most of a '59 Les Paul with a faded top and it's the color of the '59 LP I owned in the 70's. It's still the color I want to see on a LP or PRS. Very nice!

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

Here's a beauty that I passed on. It's a '98 McCarty.

Maybe if I can sell a few more comic books... :)

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

A couple of buddies of mine own the PRS guitars...One has a C22 and the other the 24...It always puzzled me that these guys spent like 3k on these guitars and still had to replace the pickups in them..LOL...The C24 was just dark sounding to my ears...I did play some lefty PRS guitars years ago at L&M Music in Tenn...Just didn't care for them!

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

I think the key to PRSes looking so good much of the time is that the sunburst they apply is subtle.

This is a big concern with Warmoth, Carvin etc where the sunburst is not only overly dark on the outside but the gradient is too narrow. It's the major reason why I never ordered a custom guitar of some kind. These guys just don't have "the touch".

The Dragons in my guitar sounded dark to me too. Doesn't sound dark now though.

What's in McCartys, BTW? More Dragons or something more like a 50's paf?

In real life it's actually amber, but my camera (and my skills) are rubbish and the flash made it look alot more orange than it actually is!

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

The most beautiful PRS top + stain job I´ve ever seen was Scott_F`S old blue one with the p-90s, I think T4D eventually acquired it, no Idea where it is today. Every time I saw that guitar I just wanted to dive into it. Everything else since then has been "ok, but not aewsome" for me....

I just may have to build one, I deserve an eye candy guitar, too :laugh2:

Re: Time for a PRS thread??????

My beloved 513 one off !
The only one on Earth in solid mahogany...and the only yellow one.The only one with East Indian Black Rosewood Fretboard.

Bone stock except for the stripe tape. I did it myself. They know about it at the factory too. They thought I painted that on...were about to kidnap me and chain me in the paint booth....then I said..its Avery Graphics vinyl lettering tape. I cut it out with scissors...peel and stick. Peel and Remove with hair dryer.

They call it HD Yellow at the factory. I call it "Puddin"...

WTF? ...and nobody likes my 513 ?

I dig the hell out of that. I think the racing stripe thing is cool on guitars if done right. It's even cooler seeing it on what's one of the priciest PRS out there... if that isn't a way to say "screw off" I don't know what is...hehe.

Thanks. It wasn't cheap...maybe $3500...I don't remember.
The goddess of all necks too. Unbelievable.
I remember that I almost complained a few months later when PRS started making mapletop 513 that looked so good for the same price. Mine was made before they offered burst maple 10 tops.
That's when the dealership came running and told me I had a One Off . Nooo I didn't know that when I bought it.
I felt the neck and loved the way it played., and sounded.

***They offered to trade it in even for a new 10 top Charcoalburst 513...I played it and its much slower than my one off....because the extra VS lacqer and glue ect. So those are prettier but mine is faster and better. Well deserving of racing stripes bcause she will smoke yo a$$.
And I kept it.

Its worth it. I love it. Mine.
