Time to buy tubes for my Traynor YCV40, need 6L6/12AX7 advice.

I'm a tube amp beginner still (only 1 year with them so far)... I bought a Traynor so I wouldn't need to bias tubes right away. Basically all I need to do is put the new tubes in and call it a day. Some of you claim you still need to bias them, but I don't think you've ever owned a Traynor. They mean it when they said it's self-biasing.

Anyway, my amp is starting to fade to lower volumes sometimes. I'm pretty sure it's time for new tubes since I bought this thing used in the first place. As far as I know I will be needing two 6L6's and three 12AX7's...

I have a Celestion Seventy-Eighty speaker. I'm looking for slightly more crunch and that's about it. What would you tube guys suggest? How much should I expect to pay? Where are the best places to order tubes at good prices on the net?

Thanks!!

i've always had good results with bob @ Eurotubes...he sells JJ's only...so be aware of that. i'm actually in the process of trying to acquire a ycv40wr myself and i saw that they have several "re-tubing kit" options...you might want to check them out...also, feel free to ask him about what tones or what you're trying to get out of your amp and he'll point you in the right direction.

Nice, thank you! I'll check out Eurotubes.

I'd highly suggest you check out a YCV40!! I found mine used for only $300 about a year ago and it is the most incredible $300 I've EVER spent!! It blows away the $500 Marshall AVT50 combo I replaced it with!! I'll never go back to solid state either. I like Traynor so much I'm considering one of their Custom Blue 50 combos too!

I really like the Eurotubes site, everything is fool proof!! I don't know, I'm thinking about the KT77's that apparently will work with my Traynor. So you guys trust their knowledge? If I order KT77's cuz they say it will work in my Traynor... I've got no worries?

Hmm, I'm tempted to order right now...
