Time to Get Imaginative!!!

Hi Everybody... Here is a crazy (hopefully fun and not stupid) question: If you had a project guitar that is sitting around and not needed for any particular purpose, what kind of pickup/wiring experiments would you make with it just for the hell of it?

I do have an ulterior motive for asking this, as I have a guitar I put together from different parts which I want to go crazy with electronically speaking. I aready have my Les Paul and my Strat so I am covered. I am not really sure what direction I want to go with this guitar. It has a Strat style ash body, maple neck with ebony fingerboard, vintage trem. I have several different pickguards so I can put in just about any configuration of pickups in it. I might put three of the hottest humbuckers I can find (how about a triple Dimebucker guitar???!!!) or I might try to turn it into a mellow jazz guitar or.....?????

What do you think guys? Let's get creative!!!!!

Hey!! I think I am going to paint it on red, replace the bridge with a Floyd Rose, put a 59' on the bridge and stripe it all over ussing white and blue tape!!!

Just joking... :smack:

I allways wanted to try this Brian May Red Special wiring. It seems to me that many of the positions are usseles but having all thoose switches has to be fun. At least for a certain time...

I'm in the same boat as you I've got a peavey I'm going to go nuts on. I'm thinking some super high output passives.....but the metal livewire keeps creeping into my brain. You can always do the Brian May approach and have series and parallel combination as well as each pup individually and all together.

one livewire metal in the bridge....:firedevil: :firedevil:........ power'd by a car battery, is that actually possible?

ok seriously, if you want to go crazy, just get 2 live wire metals, the thickest guitar strings you can buy, a custom made nut to fit strings, and tune it as low as you can go, totaly useless, but non the less INSANE :headbang:

I know you were kidding, but Livewires are normally powered by 18 volts. Using a 12 volt car battery would cut your output by about 33%. :laugh2:

I'm in the midst of a Strat project myself, that will be using an external controller, (probably 19-inch rack mount), that will control all aspects of the guitar, plus output routing. I'll let you know as the project progresses. ;)

Re: Time to Get Imaginative!!!

i dunno if its been done/is possible or whatever, but id quite like to try two humbucker in neck and bridge with just two volume knobs, one for each, and so be able to blend one into the other using the volumes, or tun one vol. all the way off to be using just one pickup.
