There's plenty of material to level and recrown. Low action is a by product of that.

That really didn't clear it up for me but i'm not surprised either the guitar world is full of things like that.
I remember my good friend taking his guitar to this ''best tech in the country'' when he got it back the action was higher than me and his trem was on a 45 degree angle.
People just say **** for the sake of saying it. And most the time people just believe it because that's why they are taking their guitar to the tech in the first place.

When there are grooves and flats mixed with well-rounded crowns then intonation will be an issue, especially with wide (many strings) chords higher up that include open strings.
After a good level and crown that issue goes away. Then it's just a matter of proper saddle adjustment to get good intonation.

If you have to save up cash anyways,, and you're not sure who to have do a l/c job,,,,and you have a sentimental bond with the guitar,,,,ect...
Maybe consider having it run through a Plek. Looks like there's at least three in the SF Bay area if that's where you're at.
Bassmods and Santa Cruz Guitar Company also have it.

Thanks. Few years ago, I wanted my stock tuners to be swapped for Schallers, set up, rewired with humbucker change. These dudes quoted me 60 bucks higher than the dude that quoted me the re-fret price ... the irony ... I think it has been through a plek twice at Eddie Brower's ...

Those frets are GIGANTIC and barely worn.
Do a fret level, switch to nickel strings, and never experience issues again

And don't take too much off at a time, keep rechecking with a sharpie and crown them.

Just did a fret level on my brand new custom Warmoth neck, it came out great. First I leveled with 150 grit sandpaper on my radius block. After the block sands and leaves marks everywhere on the frets, I put fallaway in fret 12 to 21 by focusing in that area and putting most of the pressure on the 21st fret. After the fallaway, time to crown. Cover all the tops of the frets with sharpie to see progress with the crowning file. Crown the fret with 300 grit crowning file, then stick 400s in the file and take out all the deep scratches, stick 800s in the file and take out all the scratches, put a little neck oil on the fret and polish with the 800s. Repeat for each fret. Plays perfectly.
The neck: I got a 25.5 inch Strat neck with 10 inch radius and the small headstock. Fatback and 6100 stainless jumbo frets - the biggest sizes. 1 11/16 nut width, corian nut. I'm really liking the fat neck with jumbo frets and 10 inch radius, feels awesome. The corian nut sounds fantastic too. Really nicely balanced and buttery. Loving my new neck.

Why the heck did you NEED to level a brand new Warmoth neck? Their stuff is usually better than factory stuff, fresh out of the box.

I have a fretted maple neck 1982 The Strat that needs a refret and needs to be re-sprayed. I am gonna go for getting it PLEK'd, and might even spring for SS frets, as I like their tone and feel. But that will be expensive. I am not looking forward to that expense.
