You know, like Metallica "Battery" type palm muting. I find I can't pull it off without a strong attack and have to use my wrist tremendously to get it done. I'd like to do this more relaxed (thus, cleaner). Any tips?
christ...don't use your whole arm astro...that's a recipe for a repetitive stress injury.
that goes for superrad and godrex too. better technique = less pain
I sharpen my Jazz IIIs.Interestingly enough, I started learning to do serious metal riffing with a thick pick, and it's great because of that tremendous definition, but as I started playing faster, more complicated riffs, I realized that thin pointy picks are where it's at. flexibility, and precision, and because I have all that good technique developed from when I used to use thick picks, I find I'm not missing them at all!
...also, straight downstrokes always sound better than alternate picking; this is why Hetfield sounds like Johnny Ramone.
