To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

I have an urge to put a Bigsby & Vibramate on this tele. Tell me your opinion, along with why or why not.

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

I bigsby-ed my LP a few months ago. I'd do it, if you don't mind changing the vibe of the guitar up a bit.

Not - Never really liked the Bigsby vibrato on the Tele. Kinda like the mustache on the Mona Lisa thing going on. You might think differently though.

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

Per Frank F. Lee: do it. You can always un-do it. Vibramates are Franktastic. And you all know how good That is.

Thank you.

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

I say Yes...yes, yes! If you have another Tele around. If you reverse the control plate the arm doesn't pose any issue (or you can use a custom arm similar to a white falcon) but the full conversion (using a Bigsby plate) is pretty aggressive and requires a couple of large holes in the top. Great sound though and I think they look excellent! I am waiting to get another Nash to put this B-5 sitting in my studio on. Real-Life Real-World Benefits? Really only a bit of vibrato with basic steady maintenance required for stability. The Vibramate is seriously stable, but again a big route central. If it were my only Tele, then not for me. But otherwise, yes! BTW, for some reason Bigsbys really drop the value of a Tele a bunch for resale unless it a stock Fender job (I don't sell my guitars, but that is what I have noticed)

Have fun and show pics if you do it!

Cheers and Much Respect!

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

I have another tele, although its got two P90s and a 2TEK bridge :p. Both of my teles are parts guitars, so resale value isn't something I consider.

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

Mine shaved off a tiny bit of high end and added a little weight to the butt-end. In my case, those were both positive.

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

I have one, and I love it! Thought about designing my own Vibramate-style "string change enhancer", but buying the Vibramate was cheaper and easier.....

Re: To Bigsby or not to Bigsby?

With out looking at anyone's post's on this I have to say I am for getting one put on my guitar(s) and or getting a guitar with one on it !

I was trying to remember the very first time I heard one live and I guess it goes bact to the 50s watching live CW acts the likes of Porter Wagner and such who used to come through our town and play .

They stopped those shows in the early to mid fifties so I guess around that time I first saw one used as well as heard it and realized that such things existed .

No doubt , one played in the hands of a really major dude player will leave you impressed :fing2: .

Easy All :
