Tone chart typo?

The Strat Lil 59 and Hot Rails bridge specs are:

Lil 59 - 11.78k
Hot Rails - 16.9k

For Tele:

Lil 59 - 17k
Hot Rails - 14.8k

Are the Tele numbers reversed? Just seems odd.

Re: Tone chart typo?

Well, the Lil 59 for tele was originally supposed to be a JB Jr. Maybe SD just left the winding a bit hotter than normal?

Anybody have access to a HR for tele and a multimeter?

Re: Tone chart typo?

Yea, I'd suspect the hotrails for tele to be hotter than a strat, but I'm pretty sure the Lil' 59 looks correct.

Re: Tone chart typo?

Cool. So if one wanted a "hot" Lil 59, they could get the Tele version, and do a little fabrication. ;)

Re: Tone chart typo?

I've also noticed that the Classic Stacks arent listed.Maybe they're on their way out.

I bet its a typo. 17k i cant see it.

I wouldn't count it out offhand. The BG1400 (The Rev. Gibbons' sig tele stack) weighs in at circa 24K in resistance. Remember, resistance is not the only factor when determining a pickup's output or tone.

I had a Fast Track 1 from Dimarzio that only metered at 5.4K but it was hot enough at the bridge of my strat to keep up with the Pearly Gates in my LP (8.6K) and they both pushed the front end of my Bassman into OD at the same volume levels.

I'll check mine when I get home and get back to you...

Anyone got a Lil' 59 for Tele to compare?

Re: Tone chart typo?

The figures that always strike me as typos are the EQ numbers for the Tele Vintage Stacks -- I gotta believe that they are reversed, and that the Vintage Stack Tele lead is really 6-4-6 while the rhythm is really 6-4-4.

Re: Tone chart typo?

Also remember that the lil 59 is supposed to sound like a regular tele pup split too. At least that's what I was once told.

Can someone please confirm or deny this? If it is true, I would be very much interested in getting one for my Tele.

Re: Tone chart typo?

OK, my Tele Hotrails reads 14.55k ohms. that's reading it with a cable plugged into the output jack. It would probably be a little higher if it wasn't going through the switch and pots etc...

It's a pretty dark pup compared to some others...

Anyone have a lil' 59 to compare?

Re: Tone chart typo?

17k needs a ton of wire though right? I can feel the difference in the size between the PAF and the 59' i have. When i had the coils out i could feel how much wire was wrapped around the bobbins. The PAF was almost full.

Maybe it is that high i dono im just going but what ive seen from other pups.

Yeah, you'ld be looking at 15k or 15.4k depending on whether you used 500k or 250k pots respectively.
