Tone pot without the capacitor = volume?

Well on my Charvel model 1a I want to disconnect the cap. off the neck's tone control and therefore make it a volume control. Will it work or is the theory right but the reality different? Also would I need to do other soldering?

i assume you have a 1 vol 2 tone guitar? Yes the tone pot is essentially a volume without a cap, but taking the cap off doesnt make it a volume yet, you will have to do more soldering. check up on the schematics section of the site for a 2 vol, 1 tone to see what else you have to do.
