Tone Zone S anyone?

I really like the full sized Tone Zone for rock/shreddy type lead stuff. How does the S sound in comparison? Is the Tone Zone S anything like the SSL-5? Would it match with STK-4 neck and mid?

Re: Tone Zone S anyone?

I had a tone zone S for a while, and it's a really good metal tone, it's hot as balls so I don't know if it would pair well with the single coils you mentioned. It definitely doesn't sound like an ssl-5. It sounds like a high powered metal humbucker. Can't compare to full sized tone zone as I've rarely ever tried them, however I can say it sounded really great roaring through my Marshall and if I blindfolded you, you wouldn't be able to guess it was a S-Hum just by listening.

Mine was paired with a chopper and a cruiser and the whole setup was really cool. I got some really good clean tones out of the set too

I cant say it sounds exactly like the tone zone but it is nice and fat and full but great highs, I would'nt call it super hot in fact it pairs well with my area 61's in fact perfectly I also run a tone zone T in a tele which works excellent, I would also recommend installing a mini toggle or push/pulls to utilize the series/split /parallel options because it splits well and the parallel sounds nice and single coilish, i use mine with a treble bleed as well.
