Tone Zone S Issue

Hi Guys
I needed a very Fat Single size Humbucker so
I just had a Tone Zone S installed into a strat hoping it would give me a Nice Fat tone
and sound as fat as my other strats

One with a hotrails & the other with a fast Track 2....(bridge position)

But unfortunatly its no where near as fat , Its very Midrangy which is good but not the Bass of the other pickups
also seems brighter ??
It dosent sound like my Full size tone Zone.

Im sure its wired right , the output is there & the tech is very good so thats not the issue

Reading some reviews now , some people have had similar issues

Has anyone else had this experience with the Tone Zone S ?
Is it just a dud pickup ?

Re: Tone Zone S Issue

Just a thought
Can you change the magnet on these pickups as people do on
full size Humbuckers ?

Re: Tone Zone S Issue

The magnets cannot be changed without destroying the pickup.

If you want to, pop off the pickguard and check the wiring while comparing it to a diagram. Just because you believe a tech is good and think that might not be the problem, it could be. I was working on a friend's Strat that has a Hot Rails in the bridge and the tech wired the pickup hot to the switch hot lug to the volume pot so it was on in all 5 positions. I fixed that real quick.

Could also be just a matter of adjusting the pickup height. Play with that too.

Thanks Erik
Ill look into that again, I have played with the Height.
Its not bad sounding just not the Bass that it's stated to have.

Asking around it seems im not alone in being suprised with the tone.
Others have had the same issues

That's interesting considering DMZ's track record of making single-coil versions of big pickups that sound uncanny like the big versions. I have an Air Norton S and it sounds practically the same as the big one. I've tried the Super Distortion S in another guitar at a shop and felt the same way about it.
