Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

Re: Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

How is the PGb matching up with the 59 in the neck (EQ-wise)?

(the ? is for anyone who has tried that combo, btw)

Re: Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

I think the 59n works pretty good but like most complaints about this pup is it can be boomy on the low end, I figure the PGn will cure that! other than that the 59 still sounds great!

Re: Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

Try an a3 or an a4 (depending on how boomy your 59n is) in that 59n of yours. ;)

BTW great to see another believer of PGs. I for one think that they are the best non-custom shop PAF clones ever made.

Re: Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

I have an ESP with a 59n/PGb... I find myself using the PG most of the time, save for solos, the 59 gets the playtime then.... the 59 is boomier than I thought.

Re: Took a chance on a Pearly Gates bridge!

I put a PG set in my 96 LP Standard recently and they are great pups for blues and classic rock.

I prefer the PGn over the 59n because it has less bass. I also prefer it over the APH-1n, as it is more open sounding with a clearer top end.

The PGb just seems perfectly balanced - like OlinMusic says: "It's clear and articulate, while being thick and nice and tight in the bass for a vintage style (and A2 pup), shocking!"

They are keepers!

Just got the PGn installed and so far so good using the PG set in my Les Paul the PGn definitely cures the boomy bass although there is still something I dig about the 59n.

Over all I'm digging the PG pups!
