and let me tell you that thing ROCKED THE F***ING HOUSE! Man I love this amp more and more as I play through it!! Performed flawlessly, worked well with all of my pedals, my tone was RIGHT THERE...no real searching for it..and with such simple controls, if something wasn't right, I could fix it on the fly.....this thing is DEFINITELY a keeper!

Great to hear man! If you ever get the chance, lets hear some clips of that beaty,

Does it gain up nicely? What pedals do you hit it with?

check out my signature, that's the setup I used! except instead of the morley, I used a VHT Valvulator I and didn't use the blues jr. ...just the vox

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

sweet man, how gained up does she get? Im looking for something that'll get a really nice smooth od'd blues tone . . .

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

this thing NAILED blues tone...the entire gig was a blues gig...that's pretty much all I really do anymore...and it NAILED it....it hit the SRV tone SO well, I don't know how I ever lived without it

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

This the chinese made Vox amp?

Seems to be a hit or miss amp for quality(?...so I hear)...but folks who get a good one seem to love them...I came close to pullin the trigger on one w/out ever playin it...jes cos I liked alot of the features it had, then I started hearing about trhe QC issues and backed off...

EDIT: Glad ya got a good one tho, and are happy with it!

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

yeah, that's what I'm hearing about these amps too. There is a hiss, don't get me wrong, there is definitely a hiss to these amps, but it is so quiet that it's almost not even there ...you have to crank it really hard to make it a problem..and any amp that you crank really hard is going to hiss a little. I'm really loving this amp a lot.

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

I think they'll be huge sellers this year. Lots of tone and authentic appearance, for minimal money. What more could you ask for............maybe better pay for the guy who assembled it? he he he

Do they come with covers? If not, I'd get a padded Tuki cover for it. Or a roadcase.

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

they do not come with covers unfortunately, but I am looking into building a road case for it...as soon as I find a place to buy the latches and alumnum hardware (edges and corners)...that's all I lack...not counting that stuff, I can build a road case for it for less than $65...so with that stuff, may push $100...gonna build one for my blues jr. while I'm at it since nobody seems to make those

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

Cool. Glad it worked for you, dude.

I finally programmed a Vox AC30 into my POD xt Live!

The AC15 was a little to bright and harsh, but I'm really digging the AC30.

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

hey thnx for the review of your amp. I keep hearing alot of great reviews on this amp. haveing never played one ime naturaly curious.
just one question-have you ever tried pluging it into a a pair of 2 2/12 cabs or a 4/12 cab? not that it will sound better, Ime just curious about the versitility of the amp. it sounds good as a combo, how would it sound with other cabs and speakers. You know all of us on this forum. We cant leave well enough alone. We're always tinkering with and tweaking stuff. But then again, thats what this forum is all about right? tweaking for maximum tone? hell lets face it, were all tone junkies. :laugh2: :laugh2:

Re: Took the AC30 out for it's first gig tonight...

yeah, Joneser and I were pretty impressed with those amps at the LA Amp Show

I'd say you have a great rig - both amps are pretty touch sensitive, and the combination of (quasi) Class A and AB is pretty happenin' ;)

Oh yeah, Iv'e got a guy who has an old Vox cab with 2x10" vox bulldog speakers in it and I'm tempted to plug into that thing and be firing through the 2x12" in the combo and the 2x10" in the cabinet simultaneously.....man I think I'm gonna go try that today!
