Toontrack EZ Drummer

Anyone use this? I'm thinking about getting it but I figured I asked here first. I've heard good things about DFHS, but this seems like an inexpensive drum software. What do you think?

Re: Toontrack EZ Drummer

I own (and am in love with) DFHS, and I'll fully recommend that if you can swing the extra cash, and if your PC can handle it (honestly, I've never had good results with under 1.5G of RAM).

I also own EZdrummer, and it isn't bad. In it's current form, the OH's kind of suck, and you're limited as far as pannings and whatnot go, but it still sounds really good. I actually think the snares (before sound replacing) sound a bit better in EZd, and it's definitely easier to get nice sounding ghost notes on the snares.

That said, they're releasing some expansions for EZd... one of which is supposed to be even better than DFHS. I'm sceptical about that claim, but I'll definitely be checking it out when it's released.

Bottom line: if you don't need complete control over your drum tracks, from a production standpoint, you'd be fine with EZd. If you want the most versatile, realistic, diverse drum sounds, you need DFHS.
