Top Wrapping discussion

Re: Top Wrapping discussion

I'm in the camp that never had a problem that needed to be fixed by top wrapping. I'm fine with the way it is. Some people seem to get all worked up on either side of this topic, I figure to each their own. It's not for me, but if you like it, by all means go right ahead.

Same as me. I never had an issue I needed to solve.

Re: Top Wrapping discussion

I will either top-wrap or raise the tailpiece, because typically, the string break angle from said tailpiece to the TOM bridge is causing the strings to touch
the tailpiece side of the TOM (not just the bridge saddles).

Re: Top Wrapping discussion

I don't, BUT....there are certain guitars that do benefit from it. I'm thinking about trying it on my '59 Historic, but I'm probably just going to sell it anyway.

Re: Top Wrapping discussion

I like it on some guitars; don't like it on some others. I stay with it because I'm used to doing it that way, especially on certain Les Pauls.

Still not sure it's too different from simply raising the tailpiece a bit, though some believe that it is.
Certainly more critical on guitars whose tailpiece studs aren't rooted very firmly.

OP, your Vantage has a bolt-on neck: you could shim the neck to change its angle slightly, which would allow you to raise the bridge enough to top wrap if you want to.
