Tortex Wedge

Re: Tortex Wedge

They're the same size as Jazz IIIs. Which is to say, they're the perfect size for a guitar pick. :P

Re: Tortex Wedge

Hello.

Nice.

You should give the newer style Primetones a shot.
Thanks for the compliment!!! I think!!! LOL!!!

Apparently the "BBB-III-GGG Stubbys" will be here Monday or so and I will see what gives, or doesn't, I guess.

Will take a look at the newer style Primetones. Thanks for that. This being said: it's just the durability (of the point) of the things I'm using that's getting to me (as you know). But: I like them (not to mention the fact that I don't embrace change too readily). So maybe, for me, this just all falls into the categories of "it is what it is" and "suck it (the monthly pick cost) up".

I play acoustic guitar and mandolin with the newer Primetones on heavy strings with way more tension than an electric guitar and don’t see noticeable wear very quickly.

I have a few primetones too. My only complaint is that I don’t like the way the raised printed lettering feels on my thumb. Lol

Re: Tortex Wedge

Nearly collapsed when the title popped up i.e. before the video even started!!! LOL!!! Seinfeld. The best. Bought the box set many years ago and watched it “incessantly” for a good few years!!! LOL!!! Yet another “prize” born of the ‘80’s. Have also watched Veep a few times since. Enjoy it with Julia but nothing like Seinfeld with George and Kramer and Elaine and even Newman!!! LOL!!! Oddly enough: always felt that Seinfeld himself was just the “glue” i.e. the other characters are what made the show.

Anyways. Thanks for that. Nice way to start a day!!!

Ha! When I was searching YouTube for the video, I watched 2-3 of hem. Omg I was laughing my ass off.
Wha a great show that was.

Re: Tortex Wedge

Alrighty then. This is more like it. The BBB-III-GGG (BBB-EEE-GGG) Stubbies arrived this morning. Arguably they're pretty much the same size as the Primetones that I use. Nice sharp tip. Let's see how long the points last.

Re: Tortex Wedge

I like the tortex material... Anyone knows what kind of plastic it is ?
This is not nylon nor celluloid, right ?

Re: Tortex Wedge

Well I've just been practicing with the BBB-III-GGG (BBB-EEE-GGG) Stubbies!!! Not too shabby at all!!! Quite like them actually!!!

Very surprised at the difference in tone though i.e. never thought that pick material could or would make such a difference. The Big Stubbies are definitely brighter and have more attack when compared to the Primetones. Really never knew this i.e. this time around I've only ever used those 3mm Primetones (for reasons inexplicable to me: fifteen years ago and thirty years ago, or so, I never noticed nor bothered i.e. a pick was a pick was a pick and really don't remember what I used back then!!! LOL!!!).

Must say the point is indeed sharp and they feel "hard". The point sticks out just slightly more than the Primetones so it makes my picking really nimble (for want of a better word). But need to practice more with them and see. But so far so good (for the price anyway).

I still prefer the Primetones that I've been using though. At this point I'd have to say that my perfect pick would be the Primetones that I've been using but made out of the same material as these Big Stubbies (which is odd because from what I gather most prefer the tone of the nylon).

Anyways. For the price of these Big Stubbies I don't mind tossing them every so often if the points wear.

And I tried those LITTLE Stubbies. No can do. They're just too small. My index finger and nail hits the strings every time all the time (unless I hold it like I'm drinking tea British style as I said earlier) (and that don't work for me).
