for most of us, that natural drive from a 50 watt and lower rated amp delivers a creamy sound that cannot be replicated though modeling.

What combination of power tubes and speakers delivers the sweetest tone when cranked in your opinion?

I've had my Mesa/Boogie Studio .22+ for a week now and I love it. When I bought the amp it had 2 JJ EL84's and 5 Mesa 12AX7's. I swapped out the JJ's for Groove Tubes (rated 6) and now I'm getting a little more "dirt". I left the stock speaker in, which is a 12" Vintage Black Shadow. Anyway, my amp has got that mix of old Fender meets Marshall and I'm happy with the tone so far.

I'm a 6L6 Rectifier into V30s type guy.

But my tone isn't exactly creamy.....it's more like a nitro powered chainsaw on crack.

LOL! What preamp tubes you use? I have a ton of preamp tubes to choose from as my dad had a ton left over from his tube mic. I wanna see how they sound in my bandmaster.
