Trance/House track

I've been really getting into electronic genres and drifting away from guitar lately, and this is a track I've been working on. It's pretty much complete, but I'm sure I'll find a few more touches to add before I'm totally satisfied (not to mention that it lacks a title). I don't know if anyone here is into trance or house, but any input would be appreciated!

Re: Trance/House track

You opened up pandora's box!

Not to blow my own horn but I was on a label in 2002 as a Trance and House producer and did a ton of tracks for some majors and indies as well.

I'll start by saying I'm out of touch with the scene now so I don't know what the styles are as they change rapidly. I would suggest listening to the Global Underground series, artists like Gabriel and Dresden and hang out on Beatport.com and listen to what's current.. The key to good Trance and House is the quality of the sounds and samples. People who are at the top really are some of the best at those things. Good luck and be prepared to spend many hours editing midi data! LOL

+1^ it is a massive underground thing...with tons of options and trends....
Hehe got alot of stuff myself....but it is very broad stuff, everything from 80s bootstomp to total spaced out trance....
Yours is a fairly dry and not so dense sounding as some can get, some of these guys are total wizards with this stuff...it is like guitar, practise your behind off!
:D
Dig the clip as well!

Thanks for the tips. Most of what I listen to lately has been electronic. Deadmau5 and Glenn Morrison have been a big influence. Where can I check out your tracks? Also is there anything to be aware of to succeed other than just tons of practice?

Here is an electronica and a Trance remix I did for the singer Noel, she was with the Boston Symphony.

These are low bit rate mp3's so the quality is a little suspect.
Electronica:

Trance:

and with Julie Harrington - Julie sang back up with Pink Floyd (this one has some volume dips to keep pirates away.)

Well, success in producing House/EDM is fickle because if a big time DJ spins your tracks you can get noticed quite easily. There are a ton of producers though and competition is fierce. That said there isn't much money in producing dance music anymore unless you're remixing Madonna and even that isn't what it use to be. The best thing to do imo is DJ and produce tracks, spin your own stuff when you DJ as well as your faves.

Those are some really inspiring tracks. I especially like the trance one; it reminds me a bit of Hybrid.
Loved the song!!! I dig it BIG TIME!
Thanks, I really appreciate it! I've since made a few more changes and I'm going to start giving out a demo cd to local DJs.
