I recently picked up a traynor YCS100H for pretty cheap and was curious if anyone had any experience with this amp. I personally enjoy the sound of it. It didnt blow my socks off either tho. Anyone care to comment on traynor products. I play thrash some softer stuff here and there. mostly metal tho

Re: Traynor?

I have no experience with the exact amp in question, buuuttt I did own in the past a Traynor 30 watt combo amp that was made in the early 70's.
It was the best sounding "Marshall " type tone I've ever heard. Fantastic amplifier all around. I owned mine for approx 25 years and as far as I could tell it still had original tubes in it when I (stupidly) sold it.
I will eventually own another.

Re: Traynor?

I just picked up a second hand Traynor YCV40wr combo. Very nice amp.

It seems to be like a Hot Rod Deluxe with all the short comings addressed. EQ on both channels, a nice sounding OD channel and a V30 speaker. Great build quality and great looks.

Re: Traynor?

I had two YCS100H heads that I ran into a pair of Marshall
1960A cabs. I also had a Custom Blue 50 combo and matching extension cab. I gigged all of them a lot. For the money they aren't bad, but their old plexi based heads are far better. One of my YCS100H heads came with bad solders from the factory. Had to be returned for repair. And then it burnt up again a while after I sold it (to a good friend no less). Wasn't overly impressed with all of that. Needless to say, I am no longer a fan of the brand. I upgraded to a Bogner Shiva and XTC from the Traynors and haven't looked back.

Re: Traynor?

I have a YB1A (or is it YBA1?). Loudest amp I've ever owned. Can't be in the same room with it. Can't run it louder than 3 or it really hurts. A Marshall Major was the only thing I've ever played that was louder. But it's that 70's Marshall rock sound in spades. I don't have experience with newer Traynors. But the old ones are cheap, and for the price of a new set of tubes, a little refurbishing, you'll get legendary sound.

Re: Traynor?

They're made in Canada and use things like plywood cabs and come with good speakers. They're built to take abuse (their warranty is 10 years and the first two years are "even if you break it").

They're extremely good bargains on the used market.

Re: Traynor?

I have the YCS-50 head pushing a pair of Marshall 1936 2x12's.

My favourite amp. I sold the first one I had back in 2013 and the last 5 years were a quest in tone chasing that culminated in my buying another. I don't feel I need pedals anymore, I just like the options.

I've also gad a 70's YBA-1 and multiple Traynor cabs over the years.
