Treble Bleed Mod causing weird taper of volume

I've been attempting to do a treble bleed mod on my Charvel San Dimas. There is a problem with the taper of the volume control when I have this mod installed. Basically, the first half of the volume control does absolutely nothing and the last half starts to drop the volume, but in larger chunks. The difference between completely off and a notch higher is huge. I'd like to retain the full sweep of the volume knob, so I'm unsure what I'm doing wrong.

I have a .001uf capacitor with a 150 ohm, 1/4 watt resistor attached in parallel. The capacitor is then soldered to the middle and left lug of the volume pot (the right lug is grounded)

If I remove the resistor and just attach the capacitor, the volume sweep is as it normally is without the mod, however, lowering the volume with just the capacitor causes the sound to thin out tremendously. So, the resistor seems to be the culprit with this problem.

Can anyone tell if I'm doing something wrong? Maybe wrong values for the Cap or Resistor?

Get a 500k linear pot. Sounds like you're using a logarithmic pot atm.

50's wiring - extra treble on the rolldown and no odd issues with taper.

All of the suggestions above apply.

How cheap is the stock Charvel volume pot?

All three basic Treble Bleed circuits have downsides. Try all three (cap, cap/resistor in series, cap/resistor in parallel) with different value components until you find what you like.

I tend to like the Kinman the most. It seems to mess with taper the least.
