I've read several posts where guitarists believe that removing the trem cover on a Strat improves the tone.
How many of you folks have done this and found that the tone improved/changed?
Just curious
Thanks
Dave
Much better, more resonance, distortion is a little raunchier, high end sings more.
I did!! Much better, more resonance, distortion is a little raunchier, high end sings more. DO IT! You wont regret it. Plus that stupid, UGLY cover feels uncomfy.
Somebody fed you a line of crap, man. The ONLY thing that's gained from removing the cover is the ability to make some noise by banging on the springs. That, and quicker access to them for adjustments.
Haven't noticed a tonal difference, but changing strings is just WAY easier with that piece of plastic gone... most of the time it's covering the string holes in the trem block.
Stupid!
Sometimes I wonder how much we trick ourselves into hearing differences because we want to hear them.
I removed mine to adjust the spring tension. I played it each time to check the feel of the trem'. All I found is that my belt buckle was grounding. No noticeable change in tone! But whatever works for you man!
