Trem Guitars! Need opinions..

I've had an LTD EC-1000 for about a year and a half and its been my main axe since then. I live it and it plays practically by itself its so commfortable. String spacing, action, tone, weight. While the weight is not somuch a factor I am looking into getting another guitar with a trem. But my last purchase in November led me to gathering more knowledge from you guys. I bought an Ibanez S470dxqm viking red with the ZR trem in Nov. 07 and I upgraded the pickups from the stock IBZ to Duncan Jazz-jbjr-dimebucker, which is now for sale. It sounds awesome and playss really easy but the string spacing is throwing me off. Given it is spaced wider due to the locking trem, is there a guitar that is spaced close to my LTD with a locking trem. And also a guitar with a neck that is as comfortable instead of that flat wizard 3 neck.

i love those ZR trems... real smooth feeling... saddly i don't like Ibanez's body and neck designs that much... still i'd almost own one just for that bridge...

grab a ruler and messure the string spread from E String To E string as close to the bridge as you can of both guitars... post the results

Re: Trem Guitars! Need opinions..

AFAIK The only trems that are spaced similarly to a Tune o Matic bridge are those that essentially use the same bridge design (Bigsby´s and Schaller´s "Les Trem" for example) or a Kahler 23xx series which uses the TOM studs but requires a small rout underneath the bridge and requires 4 holes to be drilled in the headstock for the locking nut.

Of these, the Les trem is the only fully reversible mod.

Check out stetsbar.com too. Not sure about the string spread, but at least its a fully reversible mod too.
