Trembucker closest to Antiquity bridge humbucker?

What is the Trembucker closest in sound to an Antiquity bridge humbucker? From the sound clips, I like the '59 Trembucker the most, but am almost afraid it'll be a little too scooped in the mids. I have no experience with a '59 in the bridge position of any guitar. The vehicle in question is a Strat-style build with a rosewood fretboard. I have no idea what the body wood is - the body was given to me. The bridge will be an old NFT Floyd Rose from the early-'80s. Amps are Marshall Plexi types 18 to 50 watts. Thanks in advance!

Just wondering if you couldn't just slide the strings inward on the saddles, or upgrade the trem with some bent steel type saddles and simply use the pickup you most want.

Also most Gibsons have a 52mm bridge spread with a regular 50mm spaced pickup, and I've not come across any time during playing where I'm wondering about a move to a F-spaced bridge spacing.

Pretty sure you can order the Antiquities in trembucker spacing from the Custom Shop.

Not to open this can of worms, but dude I would just go for the regular antiquity. You won't notice any problems.

Re: Trembucker closest to Antiquity bridge humbucker?

As to using a different bridge, I'm putting together a copy of Alex Lifeson's black Strat from the late-'70s, so the NFT Floyd isn't optional. Unfortunately, I'm having to do this on a budget, as well, so I can't throw $120 for one pickup. Those facts / challenges established, how well does a '59 Trembucker work with a Floyd Rose, tone-wise? This guitar is not going to have the locking nut, BTW.

You really don't need to use a Trembucker. They offer only a minimal (at best) difference. Use the pickup you want.

the 59 trembucker is a great pup. putting an alnico 2 magnet into it will make it closer to an antiquity, aged alnico 2 even more so. still wont sounds just like an antiquity but closer. having said all that, i use a seth lover set on a two bucker tele and the string spacing on the bridge is no where near lining up with the bridge pup. still sounds awesome. get what you want but i wouldnt worry about the spacing all that much. there sure werent wide spaced buckers in the late 70's

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Letting go of the Trembucker thing will definitely open up the possibilities. I actually have an Antiquity in the bridge position of another guitar I put together that has a regular Floyd from the '80s. I'll have to see if I hear what you're hearing with bends.

Hi,
What I said in my last post was off, but the concept still applies: The high E catches the side of the pole/screw but lands about dead center when bent up on 12th fret on up.
Sorry, but give this a read, it is what I meant to say.
On my regular spaced SH-2B in a 3rd Strat I just put together, the spacing is such that the high E string rests on the outside edge of my "E" pole and slug, but still enough to get the full strength pick sound, so when I give it a big bend on the 12th fret or above- the string goes in the middle of the slug, as opposed to almost not being over the slug, and closer to the middle of the screw.
At first (without looking) I got pissed at myself for not using a trembucker, but it sounded great, so I looked and there it was.
As I said before, the low D,A,E slugs & screws are a little off to the side and I like that, it is easier to keep the whole pup higher without the low strings too loud. I use a custom set - 9, 11, 15, 24, 36, 48. I love it.
I like trembucker too, but most folks can't hear the difference, and IIRC, someone dared me to take a blind test and bet me I couldn't hear the difference. In my mind I thought it was a big deal, but in the end I had a guy play each guitar, which had the same pup in the bridge, one trem, one regular, and I could not tell the difference.
So you can't lose!!
