If the price tag is normally 1600 new, than sligtly less than 1/4 :) :) :)
Argh!! Less than 1/4!??! You'd be dumber than him if you passed this one up or let it slide over your head!! GET ON IT! :)

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

I'd honestly buy it and turn around and sell it.

As awsome as it is, in many cases, including yours I'd imagine, it'd be more then I need. Sell it and buy some gear you can really use.

I don't mean to tell you your priorities, but sounds like allota amp.

Oh you mean like EMGs and how much they suck? :laugh2: Just kidding (kinda...)

Oh, and BUY IT!

I don't mind it when people don't like something (tone is subjective).

I just don't like it when people say something sucks, then give you either no reason, or a BS reason....

:)

I'm gettin it guys, it's final, his family writes contracts for everything( his moms a lawyer...), i just signed one saying i'd buy it before the end of the month and that he could only sell it to someone else if i didnt pay by the first of novermber... this is going to be awesome.. I think i'll go with a 2:90 stereo power amp...

Oh wow his folks are letting him sell a a preamp that they paid full pop for for $400, wow they're even stupider than he is for flushing their money like that. I wish my folks wasted money on me like that whenI was a lil kid.

AWESOME score man! Do NOT let this thing slip thru your fingers! Congratulations!

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

Oh yeah ain't it great? LOL Makin; off like a bandit there...

I snagged a Boss GT5 for 75 bux the other day but this is a bit more of a better deal deal haha.

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

The Triaxis/2:90 combination is definately a lot of amp, but at that price for the Triaxis you can't go wrong. When you pair it up with the 2:90 and utilize the voice switching jacks on the 2:90 the flexability is staggering.

Start saving up all your extra pennies now, you are going to be paying homage to Flatulous, the Greek God of G.A.S. for the next couple of years. Some of the other things you will want with a quickness are these.

2:90 (of course)
2 speaker cabs - Im partial to the Mesa 3/4 back 112s, portable and they sound great
A midi controller - The Rocktron MidiMate is cool, the All Access is cooler
2 racks - you can stuff the Triaxis/2:90 into one rack, but start adding conditioners, tuners and effects and it gets real heavy, real fast. Go Mesa shockmount if you can.
A power conditioner
A Korg rackmount tuner
A G Major - no other way to go, trust me on this one
A lot of wire to connect it all

Be very patient with the Triaxis. Don't think of it as one preamp with eight channels because it's really more like eight amps in one box. What works for one channel doesn't always work for the others and you really need some time to figure out. Your friends biggest mistake was that he assumed he knew how to dial an amp in and the Triaxis isn't exactly simple to use. It's easy enough to program and the user presets are all very good but there is a lot more tone stuffed in there than you'll find in the presets.

I've had my Triaxis/2:90 rig now for almost 4 years and I am still finding new and killer tones. I play out quite a bit and I still get drooled on regularily by other guitarists who can't believe how killer my rig sounds.

PM me once you get it and I'll shoot you some of my presets. They may need a little tweaking because I doubt you'll have some of the stuff I'm dialing in around, but it'll get you started. I've had some custom patching stuff made to make set-ups easier which you might be interested in down the road, and I have the dimensions for the caster mounts and dolly construction for wheeling up the Mesa shockmount racks with the locking casters they sell. I highly recommend the mesa shockmount racks. They are pricey, but you arent going to want to stuff close to $3k worth of tube rack gear into a $75 SKB plastic rack. Thats just not right.

You're on your way to a killer sounding rig dude, enjoy!

Agree as well. I've said this a few times since just getting my Triaxis a couple of weeks ago. Tweak and dial in with care on this thing. Mesa basically says that all over the manual but I still think lots of folks don't listen and try to treat it like the head or pre-amp the previously owned etc. You just can't do that.

Robert I'm glad to hear you still like yours after 4 years! Makes me feel better about my purchase. (well as if I really needed to) Even after finding some cool tones its SO fun to keep messing with it and see what kind of new tone or sound I can come up with. The thing is darn addicting! There's just so much to experiement with......

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

I don't know how you are running it but if you don't have a midi controller with an expression pedal you need to get one. The ability to change your parameters on the fly in real time really opens up some possibilities.

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

I haven't checked out that feature yet. I'm using the MIDI from my old GP8 to control the Triaxis and/or add effects if I need them. Sooo many options.... I had an expression pedal with my GP8 but it was old and it broke, might be time to buy a new one! The parameter controling thing with 2.0 looks really neat too.

Thanks for all the advice rob. Would you recommend me a MIDI controller? When I get this thing i may be asking you some questions :laugh2: .

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

FWIW, how much do you value this guy's friendship? It's kinda similar to going out with his ex girlfriend after she's dropped 80lbs.

If I were you, I'd IMMEDIATELY sell it for a good price once I'd bought it (It sounds like one of the above guys will come up with the dollars).

That way, you'd have nothing to return once his parents find out.

Normally, I'd agree. But one of the parents is a lawyer who wrote up the "sale" contract. I think he's on solid ground. ;)

Re: Triaxis!!!! Stupid rich kids!!!

I use the Rocktron MidiMate with an Ernie Ball volume pedal inserted as an expression pedal. They are very rugged, flexable and easy to program. I have owned the ART X-15 in the past and I have worked with the Berringer controller in the past and I like the Rocktron unit far better.

In retrospect I'm glad my parents didn't. I had to work for every peice of gear I bought. Nothing was given to me. I didn't own an instrument made in America until I was 27. It made me appreciate what I had, and still does to this day.

I see a ton of kids gigging with enough gear to put themselves through college.

The tragic irony is that if they put themselves through college they'd be able to afford alot more and better gear than they have now.

....and they might actually grow to appreciate it.
