Tried a great Schecter today.

This is a Schecter Blackjack ATX Solo II.

What a great guitar man. I'd only tried cheapo Schecters and this one is way nicer than others; their pricing is on par with Les Paul Studios and such.
Korean made, swamp ash body and ebony fretboard. SD Blackouts stock, excellent Sperzel tuners and a nice thin matte finish.

What a tone, man! The Blackouts are just ridiculous. Very decent cleans rolled back, and thick as hell opened up.
Couldn't be any easier to play, too. It wasn't setup and yet I felt very comfortable right away.

IMO this thing kills most guitars I've tried. It has a very good blend of traditional and modern features. It feels extremely solid, stable and dependable.
It just doesn't **** around. I'd happily walk past all PRS SE and LP Studios I've tried to buy it.

I'll give things a good thought but I think I'd happily sell my Jackson to raise some money for this one. It's not even worthy of comparison.

Feels cool to discover something that moves you like that huh?? (cept when you cant afford it... ) Schecter make some cool axes! Never tried blackouts tho.. want to! Look forward to your NGD!!

I had a similar experience with a C-1 Classic a few years ago
Came with a JB/Jazz and oddly enough, a quilted red top very similar to yours

I bet thats in the same league as my Epiphone Zakk Wylde. Why even get a Genuine Gibson les Pual std. if all your gonna do is saturate the sound with a mid level high gain amp anyway?


Make no mistake, you will not get the sweet tone and response of a genuine Gibson les paul Std. or Custom with classic Marshall type amps, but you guys don't do that anyway, you're into sludge doom fuzzed out mastadon style distortion sound with grainy sounding amps, so this guitar will be perfect.

Sort of, yeah. Curiously the guys from Mastodon do use a lot of Les Pauls and old Marshalls to do their thing. I'd definitely like a "hot" version of a Les Paul and see what I can do.

Funny enough I just helped usher a Used Schecter Deal yesterday! Honestly, Schecters $700-900 (CAN) range smokes many things double their price.

until just recently, I had no idea that Schecter was part of ESP.

based on my experiences with ESP, I think I've been missing out and might should take a moment to try out a Schecter when I see one.

That particular factory in Korea builds great quality guitars for the mid-level price range.
These and the upper-end LTDs are amazing for the price.
Also, both the MIK neck-thru BCRichs I've bought have been near perfect quality.
