Quick review of my new Schecter Reaper FR. Amazing playing and amazing sounding guitar. Having been blown away by the effortless playability and tonal variations (all super tasteful) of my value priced Schecter Omen Elite FR6, I decided to step it up and picked up a pre-owned Schecter Reaper with the satin blue top for $625. While I'm not sure the blue top jives with me yet, I can honestly say this Reaper is amazing! I think Schecters are tops on effortless playability (Schecters just feels like a comfortable pair of gloves, you are at home on a Schecter immediately!), but wow, the tonal variations in this guitar with great pickups and coil splitting. I have never heard bigger, fuller pickups in my life. These pickups are so big and full, they make Les Paul pickups seem like tame single coils. These Reaper pickups are huge and full, very well balanced, and with the coil splitting give you all the range in tones you could ever want, and all tones super classy. Schecter sure knows what they are doing on playability and tones...wow. With a set neck and sculpted heel, access to the upper frets is effortless. This is now my top studio guitar here in my home studio. You will be floored how good a Reaper is. On playability and tones, you have never played a guitar that excels at both so well. This is the proverbial Ferrari in a world of family sedans, a true hot rod that excels at everything. As long as you like the look of the Reaper you end up buying, you will love how it plays and sounds, crazy good value for a guitar of premium materials, great workmanship, and custom level playability & tones. Schecter knows what the hell they are doing.....wow.
