MDF is NOT wood!! It is a composite material used to replace wood for certain situations, much like particle board is. dont get mislead...

I will report back on the Behringer cabinet.
I googled E1 MDF and I got links from online wood stores, I guess, that said something like "Plywood (E1, E0), Mdf (E2, E1, E0 & Super E0)"
Here's something to try out, try knocking on the cabinet wood, literally. If it's not a strong wood, then it would just resonate like a particle board. Am I right on this one? I knocked on Behringer cab, it sounded pretty dense.
Anyway, until then.

MDF = Medium Density Fiberboard. If you are young, and have a good back, the extra weight of MDF may be of little consequence. MDF is not as strong as plywood, but has the ability to sound more "neutral" as in hi-fi music reproduction. A plywood is cab more likely to have its own "sound" (good or bad), as it is more resonant than MDF.
Since particle board and MDF are composed of shorter wood fibers, and filled with glues/binders...it should sound deader than a plywood cab.

The two worlds of musical instrument amplification/ hi-fi reproduction are different and distinct. Hi-fi is about reproducing recorded musc..and the bulk of the focus is creating devices that are sonically "colorless".
The music instrument amplification world is about color/flavor/texture! It is about using components as if they were seasonings and spices in a recipe! Speaker selection is integral to toneful/tasty music. :afro:
