nice...mebbe too much reverb?
Could do with more treble too if you want it to match exactly. Your tone is nice and warm tho.
Plus i think hes playing in G# not F# and hes adding in the octave to the power chord.

yeah i'm tuned down a whole step but still played the riff in the g to a position but since i'm tuned down the notes played are f and g. also my hi pass filter could use some tweaking.

my second attempt:

What you have sounds great, but its still way darker than EVH's sound. Also i think its gona be pretty hard to sound like EVH if you are using different string tension and, as a result playing different notes altogether to what he did.
The tone you have is fine - pretty fat and groovy actually, and would work great in a cover band or for making your own riffs too, but if your goal is to get his tone, you should at least try to play it the way he played it.

:bigok:I like both sounds. I would not worry about EVH's tone when you have one(or more) that sound that good man. Congrats.:cool2:

thanks man. i have a real problem with tone chasing. a sound i like 1 day i might hate the next. i hate being like that, it drives me nuts.
