I have a mid-2000s Mesa Triple Recto (3 Channel, non multi-watt) that keeps blowing fuses. I don't know much about amp innards though I'm sure I'm about to learn. Can anyone tell me what could cause this?
Likely to be power tubes. The manual has a troubleshooting procedure for this. It happened to me a while back. Mesas eat power tubes pretty fast so if you haven't re-tubed the power section in a while you may need to. Luckily Mesas are fixed bias so you can drop new tubes in without a lot of fuss.
If it is not power tubes...the rectifier(s).
Pull the power tubes and the rectifier tube(s)...power up the amp...see if it still snaps the fuse.
If not...start replacing the rectifiers one at a time...then proceed to the power tubes.
good luck
