Triple shot or 4 way?

I'm intrigued by the triple shot mount but it seems to be that a lot of people are linking it with the p rail
I'm looking at a pair of invaders in a new build but haven't used a triple shot before.
I want to keep a clean two pot look on the guitar (a good thing since I'm using 5A maple).
Given that I never really bother with phase switching, are the triple shots worth fitting for coil tapping or do I just go 4 way selection?

Re: Triple shot or 4 way?

If you wanna go for just coil split, I'd go with a 5 way switch and have the pups coil split automatically in the 2nd and 4th position. Just keep it clean.

If you want a 4 way blade as a replacement for the triple shot rings, you'd need two 4 ways because you need 2 poles if you want to split/parallel/series both pickups.

or...

get a third 'pot' (well... a 4 pole 4 way rotary switch in stead of the 4 way blade/triple shots)

+1

If you really only want series or split, a 3-way switch and push-pull pot would be another viable option. I have a Custom & Jazz in my Explorer and just purchased a push-pull pot so I can coil split both pickups.

Triple Shots will work with your Invaders. But decide what options you want- if you want them all, then the TS are the best bet. If you only want splitting, what Orpheo suggested would work too.

Re: Triple shot or 4 way?

As has been aforementioned, the Triple Shots are awesome but only if you care about having all the available options. They take some getting used to for "on the fly" switching, though, so if you only want coil splits I'd go with either a single push-pull to split both pups at once (split one North and one South for noise cancelling) or two push-pulls if you want the ability to split them separately.

IMO, for most humbuckers (with two similar coils) the difference in sound is almost imperceptible between the two coils... especially in the neck. The P-Rails, being a P-90 and a blade, have two distinctly different sounding coils, so the Triple Shots are fantastic for them. For the Invader I don't think I'd bother.

A 5-Way Super Switch will work good too, but I'm personally not a fan of anything but 3-Ways... just personal preference.
