Triple Shot Problem

I have a 59 wired to a Triple Shot. (This is a new build, by the way). It was working fine, but I decided to shield the guitar, so I removed it. I did not unsolder the triple shot, I unsoldered from my 3 way switch. Now after shielding the TS only works in one position (the north/ screw side). Could my shielding be causing this somehow? Or could I have fried my switch? I put a strip of electrical tape under the pickup to ensure the shielding didn't short the TS contacts. Regarding the shielding, I used a combination of aluminum tape, with some copper tape to ensure continuity. I'm considering just taking the shielding tape back off, but that was a lot of work and I'd rather eliminate other possibilities before I do. When I switched to single coil mode, the guitar was a tad noisy in my studio. Thus the shielding.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hopefully only a solder joint got knocked loose.

Thanks for the welcome. I've lurked here for years, but generally the search feature helps me find what I need! As far as the solder joints, I pulled the pickup back off everything looks good. Using my meter, all my grounds are good. I just don't know at this point. I'm almost ready to just go to a simple push/ pull pot. But I have this problem with pride! Lol

Re: Triple Shot Problem

Oh noo! You can test continuity between the triple shot terminals and its main lead to see if it's broke or not.

Re: Triple Shot Problem

Did you test it when it was all out of the guitar? I wonder if some shielding is touching something.
But those connections on the Triple Shot are pretty small and fragile. Get out a magnifying glass (well, at least I need one) and see if you see anything that isn't quite connected the way it should be.

I considered that, as well. But I can't see anything touching, and I don't know how to check it once the pickup is in place. Tonight or tomorrow I'm going to unsolder the pickup from the TS, snip the wires back a bit and re-solder. Maybe one of the wires has a break. They're kinda cramped down there in that pickup cavity. After that I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.

Before un-soldering anything I'd pull the picking out of the guitar and try tapping on each coil when selected. It's possible that one of the coils or switch contacts is shorting to the shielding which would result in silence. I'm sort of guessing here as I don't see you saying exactly what is happening.
