Triple shots question

Hey everybody !

I am putting together a guitar with 2 humbuckers, 2 triple shots, 2 vol., 2 tone and a 3-way switch. I saw a Seymour Duncan wiring diagram under "triple shots" that makes use of push/pull switches for phase and series/parallel.

Question: Would this be overkill ? - the triple shots already provide the series/parallel option. I need to understand the advantages of this wiring scheme before I take the plunge. Thanks in advance.

Re: Triple shots question

I think the series parallel is between the pickups
the TS-1's are between the coils

Not overkill, but in fact, the Jimmy Page mod with only 2 push/pulls + the added bonus of choosing which coil is selected via the Triple Shots.
The two push/pull pots for the scheme you were looking at were for when both pickups are selected... the middle 3-way position.
One puts the pickups in or out of phase with one another, the other puts them in series or parallel with one another.

Nice!!!

In single coil mode, both pickups in series out of phase is a very tasty secret!

I put in the triple shots and did the reverse phase mod on a push/pull. I don't use it very often, it is just a different sound to play with. If you already have the push pulls you might as well do the other mods because it is pretty easy. If you don't have the push/pulls already and don't have any specific needs for the phase/series mods then I would say why bother.
