True Bypass wah pedal

Ok which wah pedals sound good AND have true bypass.

I've had so much trouble finding one. I've had 3 friends each bring theirs over so I could test them and every one of them I swear gave the equivalent sound of turning the tone knob on the guitar to 5.

I've never heard such degragation from any other pedal and that includes digital multieffects pedals!!


I'm not sure if I want a modern or classic wha. I was looking at the rocktron black cat moan but I'll never pay money for a wah pedal online until I get confirmation from people about the how good the bypass is.

Anyways, when I tested these it was played guitar ->wah->sd1->tubulator->amp.

The cables between the pedals were just short patch cables. Is that still too much?

Well, either way, I had other pedals I used to have in the chain along with the overdrives I mentioned, but the only time sound degragation was instantly noticable was when I added any type of wah.

Good idea with the switch. If i can't find a good one I'll just do that if nothing else.

Hey, funnily enough.. I received my new Teese Wizard yesterday from RockStarNick and last night thought I'd compare with my other pedals. So, took EVERYTHING out of my board and this was the result.. in order from my board... but tested individually i.e lead into effect and straight into Valve amp. Wizard.. same great tone.. Boss TU2.. sucked tone.. Keeley Comp.. same great tone.. Keeley Fuzz Head.. Same great tone.. Boss Chorus CE3.. sucked tone.. DD3.. sucked.. MXR Micro AMP.. slight change but not alot!! It was the first time I ever did this and was shocked at the results. Hope this helps.... incidently, the Wizard is a great sound.. that's it!

Do you mean that these pedals suck tone when only being activated or suck tone whilst not being activated? As in just sitting in the chain to the amp?

Umm, this may sound quite weird, but I think my crybaby is true bypass and it's the standard one. I can have it off without any power supplied to it and the tone still goes through.

They suck tone when de-activated and just sitting in the chain.

I don't understand why I've only found this problem to be THIS big in wha pedals. I have owned cheap volume pedals, which cannot be deactivated, such as the rogue ones and RMS. Adding THOSE to the chain yeilded hardly any degragation AT ALL but these wha pedals were insanely poor.

I didn't take notes on what they were after hearing them but I know one was a Morely and I think another was some sort of cry baby. I dont know which models they were, and I wasn't interested in looking, even though when the wha was activated they all sounded pretty good.

This is a test everyone who uses pedals should do. You'll most likely stop thinking Boss and DOD are such great bargains. :nervous:

Even Line 6 pedals are tonesuckers....even though their manual lies and says they aren't. I still like them though, so I put those on a separate loop with a loop box. Anything that runs a straight line to the amp has to be true bypass or buffered.

As a matter of fact, how did those Vox wah's ever become so popular? The wah sound is decent, but they shave off all your highs, when off.

Fulltone, Budda, Teese for wahs.....learn it, live it. :grumble::32:
