That's snake oil.

They DO have string pull, about as much as a 59 or so.

The fact they use rails makes the pull a little less warble-inducing but it can still cause problems.
well, it is recommended by EMG(it is on the installation manual that comes with the pickup). so i guess the pickups are designed with the strings as close as possible. and it sounds best to me with the strings closest with no problems. but that doesn't mean you can't lower the pickup, you can if it sounds better to you.

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

That´s good.
note, i´ll detune this guitar do D
it is actually in E
so, pretty faggot sound
ahahahahahahahah

hahah I was going to say 1/16??? you'd be hitting the strings to the pickup like crazy.

I'm sure I have mine lower than most but thats because I'm mixing it with passives and don't want a total loss in volume when I switch to the passives. I've had it up higher and its just hotter and a little more sensitive, but the tone is the same.

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

WELL another thing to add to this emg installation EQUATION
when not used with distortion(i mean clean) the output is Much LES than with distortion.
i mean, in my other charvel equipped with CC bridge and Hotrails neck, when i turn off the metalzone, the clean output is almost the same as the distortion volume
but with this rede charvel equipped with EMGS.. when i turn off the metalzone the volume decays more than on the other charvel equiped with the Duncans.
can anyone solve this Problem please? is it that way really or?!!?!

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

another thing that i just noticed right now is ... the clean tone Distorts A Little Bit, ahahahahah that could be the reason i cnat hear it propely.
and i also noticed that my strings , i mean, the first 3 strings are not Vibing very well. exclusively the first E string. it is stoping vibing very Soon... something like ..
5 seconds later.
that´s not NORMAL.

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

I tweak it a little more... it looks like : if i attack with the pick from DOWN TO UP.. it Catches the String vibe, The HIGH E string, but if i pick it from up to down, it almost don´t catch the Vibing of the string
could it be a too thin string or a floyd rose retaining the e string tone? or maybe the EMG with a DEAD bobin slug/slot polepice that JUST DON´T CATCH THE E HIGH String?

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

Impedence mismatch, bad connection, bad pickup... WHo knows. can't test the impedence of an EMG....

They use a bar magnet...

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, so, no problem with that
i guess it is the guitar BRIDGE or nut.
that is preventing the e string to vibe correctly.

It's got to be the guitar setup.....EMGs do not kill sustain like other pickups.

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

Ranalli.. so, I´M WORRIED A LOT... that the blade/polepiece on the e string could be broken. eheheh but i don´t think so.
i just want to be sure the emgs are 100% OK .

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

WFD why don't you just let a tech take a look at it to make sure its setup alright. It'll cost money but then at least you'll know if its correct or not.

Re: Truth And Lies About Installing Emgs..

Hails Vinterland, the problem here is NOT MONEY, but ... read my FIRST POST here... , i mean, the post that generated the THREAD.
there are no guitar techs, no pickup techs and etc.
did you see what´s the tech said to me about the tone knob and etc?
Do you think i can trust that MOTHER****er?!?!?!
a guy that tells you have to loose the tone control because the emg system will not work, and because i´ll have to use a battery etc etc etc? and i´ll end getting 2 volume pots, instead of 1 vol 1 tone?!
if one of you north american LUTHIER gurus would like to live here in brazil, specially in JOÃO PESSOA-PB , the state/city where i was bron and live until today
FELL FREE to come and EARN MONEY.
cause that´s enough of curious dumbasses here
