Trying to find a Soldering iron set

The soldering iron I currently have is becoming useless and I am in need of a new one. I do not do soldering very often but when I do I need something that works well. Any suggestion for a good soldering iron or kit? Was looking at amazon but in all honesty I don't know much about them or where it's best to purchase one.

Just go to a local hardware store and get you a good 40 watt iron. You don't need anything fancy. I think I paid $12 for one of these and it works great.

Thanks. Yeah there were all these kits on amazon and it got a little confusing as to what I needed and what was overkill. I had a problem installing pickups awhile ago and had to take my guitar in to the repairman. He said I over soldered and they needed use a fluxer or something like (i cant remember the exact name) to pick up the extra solder. Wasn't sure if I would need additional stuff besides the iron and solder

^^^^That seems nice. Especially for the price.

Yeah, that website's got all kinds of cool stuff on the cheap too.

They send ya a big color catalog in the mail every now n then after ya order off of em.

They rock.

I'm at the same phase and I'm thinking about this one. It's around $30 - $40 I think.
I chose this because I like soldering irons with not so long metal rod and a thin grip. It has a short rod so it'll help me for more stable, controlled movements. 45W and maximum temperature is 480 C - 896 F

Some good stuff here. I got one of those Stahl solder stations and some other goodies.
