I replaced the bridge pickup back in 92 one one of my Gibson SGs. It was a white SG Special. Over the years ive forgotten what i even put in there. Last night i took the pickup plate off to see if there might be any marking on the underside of the pickup. Its a Seymour Duncan but im not sure which model. There is a small white sticker on the underside with the letters DCL. Ive attached a picture. i also have another old seymour duncan laying around that is not currently installed. This pickup has a sticker on it a CCJ on it. Does anyone know what this one could be.dcl 1.jpg
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Re: Trying to identify These Pickups?

The DCL is an 80s Duncan Custom and the the CCJ is a Custom Custom. The last initial is who wound it. J is for Maricilia Juarez and L is for Lidia Daniel. And Maricilia Juarez is pretty much in charge of the Custom Shop nowadays, so that Custom Custom is probably in the top 95% of all CCs. Some guys can hear it, others don't think there's a difference.

Thanks for the reply. Those years would make sense. I got them a long time ago. Another quick question if you dont mind. I have the DCL Duncan Custom already installed in the bridge position of my SG and i was thinking of maybe putting the CCJ Custom Custom in the neck position. My question is would the CCJ be good in the neck position and compliment the DCL or is it designed more as a bridge pickup?

The CC is a bridge model. It might be too thick for your tastes in the neck.

Fixed that for you.

Proof that guys actually hear it ought to be forthcoming in order to separate belief from fact.
