trying to learn a solo that makes you crazy

so there is this song that i got down pretty good. then comes the solo. the end of the solo is a cohering mass of notes that are chaotic and sloppy. i dont understand what the crap the guitarist was on/thinking.

i have the mellow first part of the solo and the fast middle part but the end is just border-line retarded. i cant figure it out. even if i did i would probably sound like crap. a meeeeeleeeon notes per second isnt my style.

im thinking of just making up something of my own, but it sounds off. its like i have to figure out the weeedely wee part.

i need to walk away from my guitar for a few hours.....

what do you guys do when this happens to you?

I just thank god that I stink and wouldn't be able to play it anyways, LOL. :laugh2:

Then I play whatever I can that is as close as possible to sounding like the real thing.

Seriously, I have to learn songs for my covers band. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes I nail it with perseverance, sometimes I quickly conclude I don't have a hope. If the latter, I work out something of my own that fits the song and remind myself that most of the audience aren't guitar geeks.
