TS-808 vs. TS-9 vs. Stratdeluxer modded TS-9

The TS-9's John modded for me are the clear winners...just a more pleasing, more natural tone. They'll do anything the TS-808 or TS-9 will do...and do it better.

Period.

After messing around with my two Stratdeluxer modded TS-9's, the TS-808 seems like nothing special at all!

Maybe a tiny bit smoother than the unmodded MIJ TS-9 I borrowed from my buddy AJ.

The TS-808 is MIJ tho....not Taiwan.

That's kind of nice!

My advice? Get a TS-9 and send it to John.

Period.

Does this also apply to the Maxon OD-9 pedals as well? As you probably know Ibanez/Maxon are one and the same - I have found my Maxon OD-9 pedal which has got the JRC 4558 IC chip in it seems to be a lot smoother than one of my other TS-9 pedals.

I am not convinced with the new TS808 pedals as they sound too clinical to me and have to agree with you on that one, whereas my SD-1 could do with some dirtying up. What's the going rate for Maxon OD-9 pedals in the US? as they are getting to me expensive in the UK.

Never tried the Maxon...dunno about the going rate either.

The unmodded TS-9 doesn't sound much differant from the TS-808 to me...maybe a little more nasal, but not that much.

The Stratdeluxer modded TS-9's both sound alot nicer than either tho...as John said they would.

But I have to add that for me, the Boss DS-1 is still my fave. I can leave it on all the time and go from sparkling clean to very overdriven with just the volume control of my Strat or Tele.

Thanks for posting Lew....There's a special place in my heart for friends like you Lew...Glad the pedals sound good...That makes me happy while I Keep in touch with you all from this really nice Hilton Hotel right near Hard Rock Cafe and Universal etc...We love Orlando...About 2 hours from home is all...
