Re: TSL 602 vs. 122

I voted TSL602 becuz thats what I got. 60 watts is VERY loud. I have no need for 100 watts and these Marshalls like to be above 5 or 7 on the master vol before it really starts to cook.

I've got my TSL602 on top of a TSLC212 2x12 cab. A very nice match and adds some much needed low end to the combo.

I think this "half stack" sounds great. Classic Marshall tones. Absolutely nails that classic Marshall sound and crunch and singin leads. But not much else. Good high gain for punk stuff, but not tite and fluid as say, a Mesa.

Haven't spent much time with the 100 watt version. If you're thinking about 100 watts, spend a few more $$ and got the JVM. Or for about the same price get a Mesa Roadster... Thats what I want...

Re: TSL 602 vs. 122

i wish it was only a few $$$, or i would already have the JVM. the JVM is like $2000. i do have a mesa 5:50 and it's great, but just a little thin for my tastes. although its tone is super impressive, i need some thick and heavy grit. the 602 i had was very good, but a little spongy. i was thinking the 122 might offer a little better tone because of the extra 2 el34s and upgraded speakers, but then again i've heard on several reviews that the 602 is better than the 122.

if i do decide to take hte mesa back (which would ONLY be because i'm stuck on that classic marshall crunch and absoluty NO other reason because the thing is so amazing), i'll probably go back with the tsl.

i have had the dsl401 and it was good, but not great. that's probably because it just bugged the hell out of me that the price was SOOOOO heavy. i always thought it was about $300-400 overpriced. i actually thought the 602definitely sounded better despite some other opinions.

by the way, do you have any sound samples you can post?

Re: TSL 602 vs. 122

I love my TSL 601, but if I could have afforded it I'd have liked the 122. There's a power reduce option IRC that drops the power to 25 watts, and it has a parallel and series fx loop.
Saying that, change the stock valves and speakers and you've got a cracking amp in the 602.
