tube combo amp recomendations

im looking to get a small-ish tube combo amp (most likely 2 12 inch speakers or 2 10 inch speakers). requirments are:

-can go pretty loud but dosnt need to be overboard (im not gonna need more than 50 watts)
-2 channels with footswitchability
-nice sounding usable clean chanel
-distortion channel that can get heavy when needed without mudding out. i will not be playing metal on this amp but i still need to be able to get a heavy progressive rock sorta sound.
-tube combo (duh!)

a built in spring reverb would be nice but is not necesarry.

this amp will be used in a three peice instrumental band that plays sorta funky progressive rock but is also sorta all over the place genre wise.

all recomendations welcome even if they dont fully fit requirements list.

thanks

fender hot rod deville 2x12. so nice.

Re: tube combo amp recomendations

I know it ain't a 2x?, but play a Peavey Classic 30 - it was awesome clean and had great drive, could do metal in my opinion.

It's not the right amp for me, but I think it may be a really good choice for your intended use.

edit: There's also a "Delta Blues" combo they have that is 2x10, which I just found out is the same amp but with 2 ten inch speakers, get that one!

+1! Great amp, either that or the V32 (same amp, different speaker and cosmetics).

im very serious about getting one of those. Or maybe the palamino v16. Im just not sure if the 15 watts class a will be lound nuff for playing with a drummer.

Re: tube combo amp recomendations

Check out the Traynor YCV line. Many configurations, a really nice Vox like clean, and great OD that's never muddy like the HRD's, is really responsive to tone controls, and has a good sounding boost switch. There are some really great tones in there. The prices have been creeping up as people find out how good they are but they're still very reasonable. And they're very well built for a modern mass produced amp. I changed the tubes and it came with a V30, that was almost 3 years ago and I'm still very happy with it.

I happen to own my all time favorite small tube combo the 2/10 Fender Prosonic. I play everything from worship gigs in small churches to big outdoor gigs with it. This week I will have it out on my 2/12 cab at Thunder Beach in Panama city Florida on an outdoor stage. It slaughters anything I have ever owned including the Soldanos, Marshalls, Boogies Traynors you name it. I also have a new TSL 60 Marshall halfstack but I'm taking a Fender 2/10 combo and an old Fender 2/12 cab to play in front of THOUSANDS on an outdoor stage because of one thing THE TONE. That should tell you something!!!

ENGL Screamer or go Laney. Those will cover ever base you need, with great cleans.

Heck yes, Ive always had 112 combos, and ive never done a gig without one of them on a chair. gets that sound out there, instead of sitting it on the ground and letting the sound soak into the floor.

Try a Rivera Quiana or Fandango. I have recently aquired the Quiana and am in love with the clean channel. Very very nice cleans - and quite versitile. The OD channel is good too, lots of gain on tap, but you really have to be patient with the EQ. Great spring reverb. Bright and mid-shift on the clean channel. 55 watts with triode switch to bring the power down a bit. Both channels have a built in boost too. Takes pedals well. Not a one trick pony either.

Check out their site - they have videos of most of the current amps online.

Yea, i had a 401. Forgot to mention that one.. had an EXCELLENT gain tone, you wouldnt think so with El84s, but man it was incredibly warm! The cleans were just sweeter, very spanky and full but still marshall! Id like to acquire one of those again. Just wish they made a head with higher wattage!
