Tube Comparison

Hey guys, I'm needing to change out my power tubes in my Hot Rod Deluxe. The old ones, which came in it when I bought it back in 2019 are Groove Tubes GT-6L6-CHP. Good tubes. I am replacing them with pair of JJs. We'll see what happens. I'm a bigger fan of EL-84 than 6L6 power tubes.

What does you guys like better between JJs and Groove Tubes?

Groove tubes is just a rebrander. They buy in bulk then screen tubes for transconductance cathose current noise levels etc...then the ones that meet thier spec are branded Groove Tubes.
So depends on what GT 6L6 tubes it has in it.
They might allready be JJs
Did you buy your JJ 6L6s from a dealer that burns them in first? Most tube drift happens in the first 50hrs. So a burned in set is more likely to stay matched.
I buy power tubes from amplified parts they burn in then apex match powertubes.
I need to buy a set of 6L6s myself. I liked the TungSol 6L6GC STR but my amp got knocked over then one started redplating. I stuck in a tired set of Ruby branded Shuguangs I had but they are tired.

groove tubes uses "s" for jjs. so gt-6l6s or gt-6v6s for example
Interesting, I saw several Groove Tubes for sale on Sweetwater and they, indeed, had an "S" in the model number: "GT-6L6S"

The tubes I'm replacing are GT-6L6-CHP. Those are Chinese-made.
