Tube question. Can I use..

..a ECC803 S Gold Pin - 12AX7 in my Engl Screamer combo?

It's a long plate tube and Bob doesn't use

the long plates in combo amps where the tubes are located ground zero to the speakers.

I've got a JJ ECC83 S in my V1 currently and the 803 has a tad less gain, is that right? I'd like to try it out and see/hear...will it work? I don't use a lot of gain..1/3 max.

I use long plate tubes in all my combo amps, and I've had no problems- but, I do use those little silicone tube dampers on the pre tubes. Not sure if they really help or not.
There is a chance that it could be more microphonic, mainly because there is more mass to vibrate.
I'd try it- you might like it- It's all about personal preference.
