Tube Rectifiers?

My little Silvertone has the original 6x4 rectifier tube in it, how often does a rectifier need to be replaced?

NOS and old rectifiers seem to last forever. Have a back up if you gig, but I'd just let that puppy burn, baby, burn!

If the rectifier works then it's fine and doesn't need replacement...It's job is to convert ac current to dc current...
